A Q&A with Henry Francisco

What role(s) are you playing?

Ga Ga Kid, Yuppie, Attendant, Bohemian, Police

How long have you been in theatre?

The first show was Singing In the Rain 15 years ago. We Will Rock You is my second show.

What do you do by day?

I have my own personal training business who work at people’s homes. My specialty is working with older individuals who have issues with movement and trying to get back or retain their independence.

Why do you do community theatre?

My son Logan does community theatre with the Marquee. When We Will Rock You was looking for a male ensemble cast, I wanted to see if I can do the audition. Now, I really enjoy the work. It’s creative and challenging. I need that in my life.

What’s your favourite moment/song in this show – without giving too much away? Why?

My favourite moment or song is the beginning of the second act. It’s a new song we had to learn which includes choreography. It sounds incredible and it allows me to let out my frustrations!

Do you have an rituals that you do to help you to prepare before you perform?

To prepare for a performance I get physical. I do dynamic stretches and callisthenics while singing some of the songs. It relieves stress and allows my to control my breathing.

What is it that you like about working with Marquee?

I like the Marquee because of the people. I like their philosophy of giving back and their open doors to those willing to put the effort in to the theatre.

What would you love for the potential audience out there to know about the show?

I would like to let the audience know that the talent is second to none. The effort put in by every member, both on and off stage, is remarkable and inspiring. They will have a show worth seeing and then bring a friend to see it again.
